First, thanks for your encouragement on Monday’s post. I forgot to say that yesterday and I never want to not acknowledge the fact that you all are such an encouragement to me. More often I share what I “do” rather than what I’m thinking and my desire is to be able to balance the two. I feel confident that you all would agree that sharing thoughts is more vulnerable than sharing “here’s what we did this weekend”. But being vulnerable is being real and being real is what I desire. I also feel it is what the Lord desires; that we are honest and real with ourselves, with Him, and with others. So, thank you!
Changing gears, my husband is in a boy band. They meet late at night in our den, bring their instruments and drink manly beverages. The lead singer came in sporting a mesh baseball cap and a mullet, the other guys ragged him pretty hard. He’s had a modeling career so I feel quite confident that me posting this picture of him will not in anyway compromise his self-esteem. Not to mention the fact that he glady struck a pose so I could click a good one. Meet Josh…
Ladies, he is available. And I hate to crush any of the other guys, but also the one with the most potential to actually cut a record. And something tells me if he makes it big he’ll have to find other “musicians” to be in his backup band.
Speaking of available. The little drummer boy is also available, but hopefully not for long. My intentions are to be a “match maker” this weekend. Could the fact that the drummer found his “sticks” in my kitchen drawer be any indication that he won’t be going to Nashville with Josh? Or it could be the fact that he gets so into it that we have to cover the drum with a beach towel and turn off the recorder on that side of the room. Let me put it this way… he’s a passionate drummer, his eyes are closed in every single picture I have of him.
I also use the terms “little” and “boys” very loosely. They’re all over 30 or close to it. I have the pleasure of eavesdropping on them through my office door late at night. I also like to tease them about being in a “band”. They’re not really a band. But they really get into recording themselves and then playing it back to listen.
I’ll see if I can get a copy of one of their songs for your listening pleasure. I wanted to record them with my camera but the sound is not “top notch” and they deserve high quality sound. I’ll let them figure it out. But stay tuned… {no cheesy pun intended}
Also, this was on my camera with the boys… and it portrays a very selfless side of me. Now, it’s debateable whether or not it can still be defined as ”selfless” if I blog about it but it will definitely portray a slight obsession I have.
I let my husband peel off some of the plastic from the windows on our doors. I am a self-proclaimed PICKER. Peeling this plastic off is so exciting to me. It’s kind of like peeling off sunburned skin and popping zits. Either you’re totally with me or you’re totally grossed out. I’ll leave it at that because you may be finishing up dinner or thinking about dessert.
Next… my 4-year old had a date with Mommy last night and it was one of the most precious times we’ve had together in a while. She started 5 day pre-school this year and I feel like I never get to have time with her alone.
She’ll be 5 in November and I feel like she was born yesterday. She’s a very sweet girl, a good leader for her brother and sister and loves to take authority in the household. I {often} have to remind her that I’m the mommy of Paige and John Martin and of her too! I brought my Bible study lesson and she brought her coloring books and we went to Barnes & Noble. We sat in the back at the kids table. Within 30 minutes of sitting on a child size bench I thought my knees would never bend again… but I persevered, we shared a sugar cookie and Fiji water. Why is water in a square bottle so exciting? There was one pitfall… I kept her out past 8 and getting her up this morning was slightly painful. She told me it was my fault she was so tired. When I told her that we’d not be able to go on a date again if it made her too crabby in the morning, she quickly changed her tune and decided she was ok. ![]()
Here’s a sneak peek at our doors all painted.
And last but not least, I will leave you with the most important thing… a prayer request for a local mother of 4, Melinda, her husband and their family. Their youngest daughter is 4 and in Morgan’s class at school. They are also neighbors of ours. Melinda received news today that she has breast cancer that has also spread to her her lymph nodes. Would you please, please, please pray for this family?
