44 In Life

I spoke too soon…

collage

I know why my baby wanted me to hold him all night Saturday, the same reason why I wanted my mom to hold me all night Monday night. The unknown illness that attacked Justin, Morgan and John Martin hit me late Monday night like a ton of bricks. It hit Paige yesterday. I don’t know if it’s the dreaded H1N1 but whatever it is… it’s the pits. I must have told Justin 10 times I wanted a shot for pain. My hair hurt, my back hurt, my knees hurt+ a fever + a headache from you know where + a violent stomach bug— something I don’t wish on any poor soul. Thankfully I’m feeling better just 36 hours later and trying to rehydrate myself. I’m way behind on emails and this has sent me even further behind… sooner or later you will hear from me. The Raiger will not allow me to leave her side. She’s terrified of vomitting; wants me to hold her and look at her every second… I pray hers is short lived too.

Be back soon…

oh sweetie, that just sucks. i pray for a speedy recovery for the raiger! at least then you’ll have all passed through the tunnel, and most likely have built antibodies for whatever it is.
don’t worry about emailing me, we head to the states tomorrow:-) i’ll give you a call or an email once we land and get settled so we can properly catch up! wish me luck on the plane, as always i’m certain to be a bigger baby than my actual babies… that’s where the red wine comes in to save the day and make 12 hours on a flight with 2 kiddies under 5 bearable. my thoughts are with you and family to get better soon, so hopefully we’ll see you in person:-)

I sure hope you all feel better soon! A few years ago all 3 of my kids (2 one year olds and a 3 year old) had the stomach flu at the same time. It was misery.

So sorry to hear you’ve all been sick! Tracy’s aunt has had something very similar. I don’t “think” it’s H1N1, but like you said, whatever it is, it’s the pits to be sick. Will say some prayers for all of you. If it’s like my house, Mama doesn’t get sick leave!

Sorry to hear that you got it too. My little one has been complaining for a couple of days of headaches and tummy aches – she woke up this morning with 101.2. Yuck! Still has the headaches & just stumbled in here to say she can’t even go to sleep because everything hurts. Sure hope it ends with her. Glad you’re feeling better.

All of you are in my prayers. Hang in there. I had H1N1 earlier this month and it leaves you with a terrible cough that lasts forever but no stomach problems with it. Lots of achy feelings. Sounds like you guys got a bug of another sort. Hope all is well soon. 🙂

We are all home from school today b/c the 6 of us have the exact same thing! At one point, I was too sore to even bend over to wipe up puke on the floor. We too are better around the 36 hr. mark…and I wondered if it could be the H1N1 since it’s so short lived. Hmmmmm…

That’s terrible! I am so sorry!! I hope you all are feeling better soon! Thomas doesn’t like to throw up either, he calls it “Yuckies”, I always know it’s coming bc of the scream right before.. Pillow cases work well for us. Drape them over their lap, car seat etc, when they vomit, ball it up and put it aside, easy enough to put another one down, not as bulky as towels and usualy everyone has extra ones around!

Darby – Bless your poor soul! Sick kids with a sick mommy – that’s the pits. My twin 2 year-olds had h1n1 last week and ran high fevers for 7 days. I don’t know if you can rule out h1n1 because our ped and other doc friends told us that it can have a gastro component to it and for some people it is short lived. Good news is if it was that…no more worries about getting h1n1! Hang in there!

That is a hilarious post!! I am with you on the no sleeping with children………(currently sleeping with my son this week as my husband is gone on business, I have been kicked in the face, poked on the arm, on the side, and under the arm, not to mention, he sleeps diagonal….but he thinks he must protect me and sleeps with a bat, did I mention that, scary!!)………and the Levi thing, I am with you, very very sad……… as for the front loader, I too have that problem. it cannot be shut when not in use, that is one thing that helps and then OxyClean, I periodically do a “load” of nothing with oxyclean and bleach. good luck!!! I am glad you are all better.

Darby – I’ve been reading your precious site for what seems like eternity. I sometimes catch myself quietly wishing that I was you…so seemingly calm and talented!…I’m Susie Wimberly’s old business partner and friend in Charleston, so I got to you from her (don’t know your connection with her, though)…Glad to hear everyone is better…no fun being cooped up! I, too, have 3 children, ages 7,6 and 2…not going to lie, flying is challenging but you will survive! Remember, you are not the only one to travel with small children! If they are not perfectly behaved, just remember that the plane ride will not last forever and neither will the memories of the other passengers! Hope you are going some place fabulous! Thanks for sharing your family with everyone…y’all are so much fun to follow! Have a great weekend – chrissy

Oh, my, I hope you all feel better SOON! I think my (12 year old, middle daughter) is getting sick! She had heart failure at 8 mo. and is now a “special needs” child due to the brain injury which occurred at the time of her heart failure…so I hate it when she is sick!

We have travelled A LOT with our 3, since they were very young. My #1 suggestion is that you invest in 2 portable DVD players (if you don’t already have them), they are a brilliant invention! Just be sure to charge them!!

#2 snacks, snacks and more snacks!
#3 They each get to carry their own special backpack filled with coloring books, (the snacks), and their movies!! (then YOU only have to do the diaper bag!!)

I hope you have a great time! I {love} your blog…it IS much better than TV!

Happy to see that you all are recovering. I agree with you about the tv, I barely watch anymore. I do tune in to Man Shops Globe about the head buyer for Anthro, fun show. As for airplane travel w/ kids (I rarely do this) but my pediatrician suggested giving Benedryl to the little ones. I know this sounds like drugging, but it makes them sleepy and makes the flight better. I don’t usually give them anything, but it seemed to work. It might help for Morgan and Paige to have candy to chew on upon takeoff and landing because of the pressure in the ears. Yes, I know how bad that sounds, drugs and candy, but sometimes ya gotta do it! 🙂
