Rover has come down…
..with a little tooth-cutting-induced cold. Normally, I wouldn’t think much about it, except we’re boarding an airplane and I’m hoping even then it won’t be too bad on little Rover. Hoping, praying, and trusting in a super speedy recovery for him and I’m thankful for a very caring pediatrician who’s helping us figure out the best way to keep him comfortable!
Thank you for all your very gracious comments on the birthday party… it was way fun. I love having all the little ladies in our home and watching them enjoy one another’s company. It may be a few days before you hear from me again… the little ole laptop is staying home, if I can get my act together there may be a “scheduled” post.

Happy Veteran’s Day… thank you to all of those who serve and who have served!! And thank you to their wives and spouses, for the sacrifice they too make, raising children while their husbands/wives are away fighting for our freedom!!!

November 11, 2009 at 8:56 amDarby, your little man is precious.
I hope the travel goes well. One “entertainment” idea….Bring a little roll of scotch tape…on the plane you can make little tape balls and stick them on the tray table. We’ve did lots of airplane travel with our two when they were about this age & that’s something that worked for us. When you’re done, you just throw the tape away. Easy entertainment that doesn’t take up much space in your carry-on.

November 11, 2009 at 8:57 amEnjoy your time away. I find it admirable that you are leaving your laptop at home. Our families do deserve more of our undivided attention. I, personally am working much harder to put that into practice. Take Good Care. We’ll be here when you return!

November 11, 2009 at 8:58 amOn second thought, I might have stuck the tape balls on the pages of a Sky Mall magazine or something…wouldn’t want them to get stuck to the tray.

November 11, 2009 at 10:07 amDarby, thanks so much for your support of our veterans! My husband is currently deployed to Afghanistan. We have three children and even though it is very hard having him away for so long God gives me the grace everyday to endure. I am so proud of him and what he is doing for our country. So thanks again for supporting our troops on this Veterans Day.
Have a great time in IL. I live near St. Charles and it is going to be a beautiful weekend here.

November 11, 2009 at 10:08 ampoor little love bug. i hope it doesn’t get worse! diego gets an awful earache every time we land in America… this last flight was no exception. still, some cuddles from mom and help of a great pediatrician resolved his discomfort super quickly and now he’s loving the trip as much as the rest of the fam. here’s to hoping rover gets to have the same sort of fun!
best to the whole gang! i might be venturing out to get a nice camera later today, so fingers crossed i make the right choice and can start to post pretty pictures too! the whole iphone thing is way over;-)

November 11, 2009 at 12:49 pmThank you for supporting our military on veterans day, and more so for recognizing their families! My husband is a Marine who is frequently deployed. I don’t think we can ever be too thankful for our military, but spouses and families are so often overlooked!
I hope he feels better!

November 11, 2009 at 12:55 pmSure hope y’all have a safe and uneventful flight and that JM gets much better soon! I wish I would have thought of the tape idea for a time killer/ fun thing to do on a plane, but I just read a BUNCH of books on our last flight. They love that and we had a few lap games (coloring, etc). Have a nice trip!

November 11, 2009 at 3:48 pmBenadryl…totally kidding! Anyway, hope you get a chance to see the downtown (State Street) windows at Macy’s while there…they are beautiful this year, Santa is on the toy floor and the tree in the Walnut Room is lit! We used to eat there when I was a little girl and can’t wait to take my kiddos, next week!
Have a great visit, the weather is supposed to mild and wonderful, upper 50’s/lower 60’s. Also – I swear by Hyland’s Teething Tablets, homopathic and have worked wonders for all my babies…Christian is working on his 2 year Molars right nowpoor baby …travel safe!

November 11, 2009 at 6:18 pmJust FYI…One airplane travel suggestion I have heard is to put styrofoam cups over baby’s ears during take-off and landing which helps reduce the pressure gradient. It works!!!

November 11, 2009 at 10:00 pmDear Darby and Her Readers,
I am calling out on the “big girl blogs” tonight. Please pray for my friends baby, Ava Benton. The Benton’s lost their first child, Eric, years ago. Ava has not been diagnosed with the same illness but has been incubated tonight and is seizing. She is very tiny and has little reserve.
The Benton’s are followers of Christ and I ask you and your readers to pray for this wonderful little girl. To read more please check out her blog at https://fourlittleladybugs.blogspot.com
