Dear Mom,

Thank you for the introduction. There’s only one problem, I can’t seem to shake them. They come and stay for just a while. I hide them from the kids (especially Rover who thinks it’s necessary to be double fisted), scarf them down, and the box turns up empty way sooner than it should. Then they go on sale at Target and I buy them again and the vicious cycle starts all over.

Wish you were here to eat them with me, drink Constant Comment, listen to carols and watch the rovers destroy the house.

love, Darby

THESE ARE MY FAVORITE COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to stop buying them for awhile, as I would notice that while I worked, I could finish a sleeve in an hour…….

    YUMMY!

OK- my addiction like this are the Publix brand of Thin Mints. I’ll buy a box when they are on sale. And that box is gone in 32 minutes. Then I buy another “while they are on sale” and that’s the beginning of the cycle. Good thing they are on sale a lot! And my parents are up here and reported that y’all are getting 3 new Publix stores! You will love them!! DON’T look for those cookies- whatever you do! :-)

Somebody come help me eat the cookies at my house! I don’t want my kids to eat them and then be hopped up on sugar, and I dare not throw them away…… so what’s a girl to do? Darn sales! Good thing i LOVE working out and you are naturally thin :D

I thought I was alone in my fierce addiction to golden oreos!!! I think this is why I have not only NOT lost my baby weight in the past 8 months, but proceeded to gain fat people weight. If loving golden oreos is wrong, I don’t wanna be right!
(I’m the one that introduced these to MY mother – and she is so hooked. last time she was at my house, she spied them in the pantry, and then they suddenly disappeared!)

a few weeks ago at our community group that meets at our house, a guy brought what he thought were regular ice cream sandwiches. they turned out to be mini vanilla ice cream sandwiches by mayfield. they look just like those oreos…vanilla cookie, vanilla ice cream. i thought i would hate them, but i’m now obsessed.

tuck that little knowledge away for this summer!!

sorry i don’t comment more. i really love reading your blog :)

i am guilty of the same very thing, except with Tim Tams. they miraculously appeared at target and i’ve never seen them here in the states. they are chocolate heaven from australia. you can find them in the Christmas cookie aisle. a little chocolate to accompany your vanilla!

The holiday dark chocolate covered jo-jos at trader joes are unreal. I can’t stop eating them-they are topped with crushed candy canes! 3.99 a pop but totally worth it! I just can’t quit them!
Get some while you can, they are only here for December and sold out early last year!:)
    Gotta try those oreos though:)

You might be the only person to make a picture of a half-eaten Oreo look that pretty!

  • Comment by Emily — December 15, 2009 @ 7:22 pm

Last night I ate an entire bag of Trader Joe’s chocolate covered pretzels. The worst part is that I bought the bag about two weeks ago to include in a gift basket for a friend… looks like the basket will be a little less sweet then savory (just kidding, I will replace them!) But my real addiction is Milano cookies… and they are not figure friendly. And Pinwheels… yum.

We tried our card pictures yesterday too. It was overcast & got too dark. The girls would not cooperate, especially the little one. I was exhausted anyway & not one picture turned out to my liking. My camera would not cooperate with me either….it was a disaster & miserable and I do not want to try it again. My photo editing capablilites are limited so I can’t fix them like I want to. So maybe you could help me pick a few? http://picasaweb.google.com/jgcribb/UntitledAlbum#

Is the stress worth it….my house is a disaster… I clean it, they tear it down…My house is being shown Friday & I am having our small group from church over Friday night and I have so much work to do at work and I want to make the butter you made and can’t find jars! AAARRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH! I think I am going to run away if I don’t collaspe from exhaustion first! Hope you get a good picture and cooperation.
    Merry Christmas!

Do you know about Double Stuff Golden Oreos? A dangerous thing for people who love Golden Oreos!!! Not all stores carry them, but the search is worth it.

Mmm. Two weeks ago I was living it up, scarfing these down b/c I learned that they are dairy free! Sadly, my son just tested positive for a wheat allergy as well so no more Oreos until he is weaned. Someday I will have Oreos (and everything else) again. You can take a fabulous photo of just about anything, can’t you?!

  • Comment by Annette — December 16, 2009 @ 8:08 pm

I too have fond memories of Constant Comment. My mom would serve it to us when we were sick. I though it was so special, a magic elixir. I still drink it and think of my mom and feel the worries of the world melt away!

  • Comment by Susan V — December 16, 2009 @ 10:58 pm

Oh my … I have not tried the golden oreos yet. But if they are half as good as the chocolate oreos … I will love them I am sure.

  • Comment by Amanda — December 17, 2009 @ 10:50 am

Did you know they have candy cane oreos right now?? Yum! The middle is half red and half white with little crunchies in it (candy cane pieces I guess).

    Hi Darby!
I just found your blog and it really brought me so much joy… can’t wait to sit down and read past posts. Although you are several decades behind me, your life looks SO MUCH like mine did. (3 girls and 1 boy with in 5 years)! And the pacifier issue? My 22 year old (who now teaches high school)- had hers until she was almost 5! We sent hers to Santa who mysteriously brought her a bike in July! I remember vividly 2 very rough nights! Thanks for your wonderful, inspiring blog. Your kids are beautiful! May I add you to my blog roll? Proverbs 3:5-6

  • Comment by Brigid — December 18, 2009 @ 11:47 pm

    Darby,
More addictive is Trader Joe’s ‘vanilla oreo’ -Vanilla Bean Joe Joes. A must try!

  • Comment by Tasha B. — December 29, 2009 @ 4:45 pm

These Oreos were one of my saving foods when pregnant! I just had a c-section the day before you posted this, and am catching up on my blogs. Thanks for reminding me how nice it is to NOT be a slave to my cravings anymore!!! Now I have to tear myself away from my bundle of joy and remind myself to eat before my milk runs dry! What blessings they are.
