They’re Back: DDoll, Rodents & Crazy Love

Today the sun is shining, which makes me glad. But yesterday the sun was not shining and that made me sad.
DD1

So I first took to a tissue…
DD2

Then I took to the couch…
DD3

Nothing like a new ‘do, a new book, with an appropriate February “theme” and a bag of kisses to start February off right. This book is about God’s love and yet, for a while, I kept thinking of my husband because our first dance was to Crazy Love by Bob Dylan & Van Morrison {you should add it to your itunes}.

While I was thinking about my husband {whom I love deeply and who is an archaeologist} I thought it was an appropriate time to share this…

DD5
And considering he has the youth of Favre I hope it’s true. Especially if he’s still jumping couches at 70 and I more closely resemble an artifact.

Before I polished off the kisses I stopped myself and remembered that I had to make some Valentine’s rodents with them.
DDandMouse

So, rodents we made and giggle we did and it turned our frowns upside down.

mice4

If you were around last year, you may remember, we made them last Valentine’s Day too…. this year we made one minor modification; we used a a small punched heart instead of cutting out foam and just used tacky glue instead of sticky squares. It was much easier this way!

Rodent you be ours?

Darby Doll has me giggling again…the chocolate face is hysterical! I wish we were neighbors so I could help you pose her…I’d have some good ones due to the fact that I’m a bit stir crazy today. The kids are all home for a snow day, and I even have a few neighbor kids over playing, too. Fun but tiring!

darby — we read your blog often, but never comment. today, I had to! first of all, crazy love is one of my favorite books of all time! it is extremely challenging and convicting! it gave an entirely new perspective on being “in love” with God. second, “crazy love” was my husband and my first dance song at our wedding. we still love that song and request the band to play it at every wedding we go to!

and… i’m a teacher and just might have to make those little rodents for my students this week!

The doll has been cracking me up! Love that your kids thought she looked like you. Yesterday, our 15 month old daughter saw a drawing of a GRANDMOTHER (with tons of wrinkles) in a book and kept pointing and saying, “Mommy Mommy Mommy” – that’ll make you feel good. 😉
Keep hearing of Crazy Love – will need to check this out.

Darby you are the best. You don’t need to have giveaways on your blog to keep your readers interested, just keep doing what you are doing. Now that there is a Darby Doll will there be an archeologist doll? HA D ‘N A dolls. Good reading during a snow blizzard.

I love, love , love the rodents. I was in Hobby Lobby today trying to remember the items I needed to make them, for my sons 1st grade Valentines. Did you get how I said “I would make them” to much of a perfectionist; 3 kids (under 6) glue and sissors = crazy momma!!! anyway I am trying to say thanks you for the idea. I am sure it will be a hit!

Poor Darby Doll. It sounds like she has a tough life. 🙂
And I have Crazy Love on my night stand. I heard Francis Chan in November at the National Youth Workers Convention and he was amazing. Well, you know… God was amazing… through him [add appropriate wording here], but he was super inspirational.
And love the rodents!! That Family Fun magazine… they are making us look smart, aren’t they? 🙂 Love it!

So we had to go to the doctor today (both kids are sick- yuck!) and they gave Finley a Barbie sticker since she was such a good girl. We hard as this may be to believe (considering she is Anne’s niece and Anne worshipped Barbies until high school) Fin has never seen nor heard of a Barbie. All afternoon she was walking around, talking about her “Darby” sticker, saying she wanted a “Darby” doll. All I kept thinking of was the doll version of you and laughing!!!

    Hi darby,
i don’t think i have ever left a comment but have been a long time reader of your blog. i could just kiss up the cheeks of your babes, but mine would get jealous. anyhow, i am compelled to leave a comment because of the book you are reading. we are supposed to read it for book club. i only got to chapter 2 1/2. i couldn’t handle his tone. i am a learning, growing, sinner and child of god just like him and was not at all comfortable with his writings. i even appreciate brutal honesty. he was beyond!!!

Hi, I love keeping up with your blog, and although this post is not that recent, I just had to comment because it seems that we have one thing for sure in common…Crazy Love! That was my first dance with my husband as well. It’s the best song and I had never heard of anyone else using it, too. Thanks for the inspiration!
