A perfect summer PIZZA for dinner {recipe here}. I used fresh sweet corn {cooked and cut from the cob} and a whole wheat crust that was on the back of the pizza yeast packet. It was a pretty crust but not very good… if anyone has a whole wheat pizza crust recipe please share.

You should try it… the fresh mozzarella, pesto, corn and tomatoes make a winning combination.

I madeΒ  a blackberry cobbler for dessert… I only took before pictures.

After dinner & dessert we made our way to the dock to watch the sun set and see what there was to see. There were multitudes of jellyfish and crabs to be seen, as well as a drunk grown man on {and off} a kayak. For the sake of his privacy, no photographs were taken. It’s a really good thing he had on his life jacket. In case you didn’t know, drunkness and kayaking don’t mix well, especially when the tide is ripping out. We were ready to be the rescue squad in the Starcraft when he hollered, “No baby, I’m fine… just had too much beer!” Hmmm, ok. It was one of those times you hated to stare but could hardly help yourself. We stared enough to know he made it safely to shore.

I cut Rover’s hair yesterday morning, looks like I missed one small piece.

The end. Happy weekend, friends!

First time commenting, but long time reader. I adore your blog! I had to come out of hiding to share my pizza crust recipe. I found it online awhile back and have been using it for over a year. Will never use anything else. So easy and so delicious!

    1 pkg active dry yeast
    1 tsp sugar
    1 c warm water
    2.5 c bread flour
    2 tb olive oil
    1 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 450. Dissolve yeast and sugar in water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 min. Stir in flour, oil, and salt. Beat until smooth. Rest for 5 min. The dough (not you). πŸ˜‰ Roll out, add toppings, and bake for 15-20 min.

    Hope you enjoy!

If you are using a windows based machine, if you accidentally delete a section and you want it back all you need to do is press CTRL+Z this is the Undo keyboard short cut, and as long as you havent done anything else you’ll get your text back!!

(If its a MAC then you just do command + Z)

Hey Darby! I have a great recipe for pizza dough that turns out great every time. It has both wheat and all-purpose flour in it, but I’m sure you could substitute and use just wheat. I posted about it here: https://rebeccagayle.blogspot.com/2010/10/best-pizza-dough-ever.html. Hope y’all are having a great summer…it sure does look like it πŸ™‚

Have you tried grilling pizza? We did this for the first time last weekend and I highly recommend it. You’d think it would fall through the grate, but it totally didn’t! And the crust was fantastic. We found some great tips and tricks here in case you’re interested.

Be forewarned, it cooks FAST. We made smaller pizzas…about 1/4 of the above dough recipe at a time.

That looks so good! My kids just ordered pizza for lunch and I am looking at it and yours and wishing I had yours! A friend of mine had a picture of a fresh veggie pizza on his website and I asked him the same thing about a good recipe for wheat dough. He said he used White Lily, but I haven’t looked on it to see if there is a wheat dough recipe.

The photos of the pizza look yummy! I’ve never thought about pizza with corn. Have you tried Publix pizza dough? They have fresh dough that is yummy, but you do have to let it rise a bit. My mom and I ate at Cobalt last night and I swear I thought I saw the Starcraft!

Darby, I think your home base is close to us. And for me that means no Trader Joes *gasp* or Whole Foods! I don’t think there are any T Joes in AL actually. I checked before we left our beloved chain back in Michigan. Trust the readers if you haven’t been, Joes is the best!

We like this recipe from food network- it calls for 1 1/2 cups WW Flour and 2 cups white flour. I just switch those two and it turns out great. Can be rolled really thin and grilled before topping and baking (just brush both sides with olive oil) and it is delicious!

Love it! What a lovely post- as for the pizza- I am a HUGE pizza fan- especially the homemade kind:) I swear by the recipe from an issue of MS Living a while back. Its for Chris Bianco’s pizza dough and its TO DIE for- seriously. Great with white flour- but totally delicious with wheat. I used a mix of whole wheat pastry and Trader Joes white whole wheat the other day and it was fab- you need a little less flour when using the wheat- here’s the link:
    https://www.marthastewart.com/344334/chris-biancos-pizza-dough

another key with this perfect pie is the super-high cooking temp!

I am going to try that pizza! Also, I found the adorable dress you posted about a month or so ago at my local Walmart on clearance for $10!! If anyone is near Greenville, NC – they had a small and a medium left!! I know it has been sold out online for a while.

I LOVE corn on pizza! I made a Mexican style pizza with a whole wheat crust last weekend and it was the best–salsa, peppers, onions, tomatoes, LOTS of corn (I used frozen yellow that I had on hand), jack and mozz cheese with crushed up tortilla chips and cilantro on top. YUM! I don’t have a favorite whole wheat crust recipe yet–I’ve been trying a new one each time until I find one that I love. The ones that taste better so far are about 1/4 reg. all purpose flour instead of all whole wheat. Good luck!

That pizza looks so good-I would have never thought to put corn on pizza! Rovers haircut looks so cute! My sister owns a hair salon and has taught me a few tricks over the years, so my husband and I cut each other’s hair to save $$ lol. We thought we’d just do it until he finished veterinary school, but now that he’s been out a year we are still sticking with it because it does save so much-plus it’s more convenient. It doesn’t always look perfect, but oh well! Beautiful pictures as always! xoxo
