Popping In

R-JM2

Hi friends!

We are back home for a few days and it feels so good to be here. The kids call home “the brown house” and were so excited about coming home for a few days. I’ve been busy cleaning out closets and they’ve been busy rekindling relationships with old toys, dolls, and books!

I thought I’d share a few pictures from our 4th of July weekend while I’m here. The one above kills me. Rover’s favorite face to make/game to play is “hawk” and he tips his chin down and gives this “I’m gonna get you” glare. In the process of doing “hawk” I think he realized he could cross his eyes and well, we have a few pictures like this as a result! He’s kind of a ham and as you’ll see I have a few extra pictures of him!

We had Justin’s parents in town over the 4th weekend. We had great weather and an absolute blast introducing them to Perdido Bay.

Our weekend looked a little like this…

Justin and his dad had a great couple of mornings on the water fishing. They came home with these two one morning, JM was almost as excited about the fish as he was his new Cars 2 swim trunks for his grandmother brought him for his birthday, we may never get them off of him!

Be back soon with a couple recipes!

I love the shot of your little man with his killer bathing suit and the fish. Such a “boy” picture 🙂 I feel like I’m living vicariously through you this summer. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to spend a whole summer at the beautiful Gulf Coast! Thanks for sharing your summer with us, Darby 🙂

Oh, and I’m excited to see the recipes whenever you get a chance to post them. Since I’m a teacher and not working this summer, I’ve got plenty of time to cook. I’ve been trying to make one new recipe each week, and I’d love some new ideas!

I read your blog when I can and although this isn’t very deep, had to say that I rarely see children (other than my little girl) with brown eyes and light blonde hair. I love it! On another note, I was sorry to see that your friend had passed away and just loved her note. What a true believer she was…and an inspiration!

My oldest calls all the houses in our family colors. The pink house (brick), the green house (historic victorian), and also we have a brown house. It is hilarious how kids do that. What do they call the house you are staying at his summer?

Darby! I love that all 3 of your kids have life preservers on. Growing up my mother convinced me that it was the law to wear and life vest until you were TWELVE YEARS OLD. She told me if I didn’t she would be ticketed by the marine police. I wasn’t even a bad swimmer… Boy did she take advantage of my trust. I was the only 12 year old on Lake Guntersville who wore a life vest.

I don’t comment often but I do enjoy your blog. I’m going to try the breakfast treats from the following blog which I read first. I just have to say that two of my favorite pictures were on this day. Your daughter looks like she loves her grandmother more than anything in that picture on the boat. AND then there’s Rover-he is the cutest little boy and I just love the picture with his eyes crossed. Thanks for sharing. You’ve given me smiles for the day.

We just discovered the puddle jumpers this year ( we have the orange kissing fishies) and it seems like we see them everywhere! My daughter loves the independence she has with it (as much as a two year old can have in a pool) :). Great pics! I always look forward to your posts!
