As I gathered our belongings for t-ball and laced up Morgan’s cleats I asked, “Girls, where is Rover? I thought he was in here playing with you.”
“We don’t know where he is!”
So I looked high and low.
And then I found him.
Looks like he put shaving cream everywhere but where he needed it… I spy a 5 o’clock shadow on his upper lip. Needless to say, we were a little late to t-ball.
Red Rover, Red Rover someone please send the clean up crew right over.

This is hysterical. I can laugh about it because it’s happened to me as well.
SaraApril 13, 2010 at 9:02 pm
Oh my word…he is covered! What a doll, I’m glad you captured that moment on your camera. Mine recently ate crayons (!!) and I wish I had taken a photo, but at the time I was shocked and focused on keeping her crayon covered hands off of my upholstered furniture!
Mary BethApril 13, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Another rite of passage for Mamas and their baby boys… takes me back to what we refer to as the ‘Peanut Butter’ incident at our house!
DeniseApril 13, 2010 at 9:08 pm
this picture is priceless! This will be a good one to show at his rehearsal dinner one day.
Cat MooreApril 13, 2010 at 9:11 pm
awww, I’m so glad I was online and got to see this. it really made my night. I would have laughed my head off! It reminds me of my friend’s little boy (about the same age) that was “hiding”. Oh, she found him alright….with monistat and toothpaste ALL over him! In his hair and all…..
wendyApril 13, 2010 at 9:21 pm
At least he was in the shower so maybe clean up was a little easier??

DevonApril 13, 2010 at 9:49 pm
My favorite part is that his expression reads “what? is there a problem?” love kids. they make every single day absolutely hilarious.
ChristieApril 13, 2010 at 9:51 pm
How cute! When my oldest daughter, Tyler, was about two, I found her covered head-to-to with almost a whole container of that really thick Eucerin cream. It was also all over her carpet. That was not fun to get out!! At least shaving cream should wash off easily!
alison g. (brazil)April 13, 2010 at 10:20 pm
Oh my goodness! Hey, at least he was already in the shower, right?
Mrs. B.April 13, 2010 at 10:27 pm

JulesApril 14, 2010 at 12:15 am
He gets +100 points for being smart enough to keep it in the shower. He is so, so, cute. 🙂
barbaraApril 14, 2010 at 12:16 am
haha, that seems to be one thing all little ones have to do one time in their life, at least he did it in the shower, you ‘only’ had to turn the water on.
when my twin girls were about two years old they spilled a whole bottle of johnson babyshampoo on the lino bathroom floor, it took all my towels and cloths to clean it up. it just wouldn’t stop foaming and was slippery like an ice rink. now with hindsight i think it’s funny, i wasn’t so amused at the time.
cute photo anyway…
bgApril 14, 2010 at 4:48 am
Both the “slather up” and “batter up” are wonderful pics and memories of and for your family. LOL

Love it! I’ve said it before but Rover is an absolute cutie! And how could you do anything but laugh with that sweet, innocent little face!
BrynApril 14, 2010 at 7:29 am
Too cute! I always wonder what you (or any mom) tells their kids when they do something bad but want to take a picture. I’ve thought about what I’d do as a mom… I think I’d say “I have to take a picture to show Santa how naughty you were!” heheh.
MontyeApril 14, 2010 at 7:52 am
I’m sorry but that is just too cute! Laughing out loud!!! What a great way to start my morning ;o)

OMG!!! I am new to your blog but this picture is SO Cute. My little boy (now 24) looked a lot like your little one and this is so something that I would have found him doing. It looks like a picture that you find in a magazine. I just Laughed out loud. Precious. Thanks for sharing it. Even though you were late these memories are worth every late moment.

Pete’s my mom just gifted me with 4 disks of videos from the time he and his brother were 2 and 4 until about middle school and I have spent DAYS watching them. Oh the mischief little boys get themselves into. And they are just too darn cute when they do it! I hope you take some videos to accompany your gorgeous pics, because if she is anything like me, Rovers future wife would LOVE to hear his sweet little voice once he is all growed up!

Oh, no! I’ve learned that lesson. When things get eerily quiet in the house, you know they’re up to something. 🙂
RebekahApril 14, 2010 at 4:44 pm
How cute!!! You can almost picture his thoughts “What?!”
Why is it always when you are on your way out ?
DianneApril 14, 2010 at 7:02 pm
Adorable! Really, he is just soooooo cute. How could you ever stay mad at him?
AshleyApril 14, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Made me think of my twin boys…at least he contained himself to the shower. I got a full bottle of shampoo on my hardwood floors here. It was a bear to clean up…water just made suds!
alstonApril 14, 2010 at 8:38 pm
too cute! that precious little face — how do you ever keep a straight face around him?
Hillary @ The Other MamaApril 15, 2010 at 12:19 am
I could write this same post and title it, “We completely missed Sunday School” but my little guy decided to empty the container of green soap all over the floor, his OUTFIT, and into his eyes. I think Jesus forgave us for being late. We DID make it to church afterall… and we needed it. 🙂
wendyApril 15, 2010 at 8:21 am
This is so precious and brings back great memories.

That’s the past three years of my life, right there. I’ve had an ongoing series on my blog called “Adventures of a Bad Baby”. It’s amazing the stuff he’s found to get into!
Now that he’s three, the messes are slowing a bit thank goodness.
Except for last week when he put rocks in the gas tank of our car… but other than that it’s getting better… Ha!
Becky ArnoldApril 15, 2010 at 11:47 am
Love the site. Haven’t seen you at Simply Unique lately. Lots of great things going on there, especially the new applique class. You would love it. Learn how to make your own more complicated appliques.
Megan DiVitoApril 15, 2010 at 12:54 pm
How do you even get mad at that sweet face! Your children are so stinkin cute I can’t stand it!!
SamApril 15, 2010 at 1:50 pm
Hey there. I have read your blog for a while now, and I love it, but have never left a comment. I actually live in the FL panhandle which is how I found your sister’s website and then yours. I have twin girls, 5 yrs. I just registered them for 1st grade and requested separate classes. Now I am feeling awful about it, but I know it is for the best. I know this is random, but I was hoping to get some advice from you. You and your sis seem so close which is what I want for mine, but I want them to be individuals too. Ugh. Why doesn’t parenting come w/ a handbook!? Sorry for the random post, esp. since it is my first! Your children are absolutely adorable. I love reading about your going-ons! Have a great weekend!!
Kelly@TearingUpHousesApril 15, 2010 at 4:33 pm

He reminds me so much of my youngest nephew Henry. He is the youngest of five!
Ruth AnnApril 15, 2010 at 8:42 pm
Oh, the memories! Almost 8 years ago, I had a 22 month old and a newborn. While I was nursing, the ‘big boy’ emptied an almost full bottle of Johnson’s baby lotion. His little brown legs and arms and belly and blond hair and carpet were covered! I had enough sense about me to grab my camera and capture it. I can smile when I look at the sheepish look on his face even though I was exasperated that day. Enjoy them and the chaos.
lisaApril 16, 2010 at 6:30 am
LOVE IT…and can totally sympathize.
Hang in there, it only gets worse. 😉
JenniferApril 16, 2010 at 8:29 am

Moral. With toddlers…NEVER trust a quiet house!
