Hi, I’m Mia.
I write code, drink too much coffee, and spend an unreasonable amount of time staring out of the window next to my desk. That window is basically the fourth co-founder of this blog.
I’m a freelance developer — five years in a product company taught me how to build things properly, and the years since have taught me how to build a life around building things. Some days that means shipping a client project at 11 PM. Other days it means closing the laptop at 2 PM because the light through the window is too good to ignore.
This blog is where both of those days live.
What I actually do
By day (and sometimes by night, let’s be honest), I work as a freelance web developer. I build websites, tidy up messy front-ends, wire up small automations so business owners can stop copy-pasting things into spreadsheets by hand, and occasionally get pulled into UX/UI decisions I didn’t technically sign up for.
I left a steady in-house job to do this. Nobody warned me how much of freelancing is invoicing, saying no, and googling tax questions at midnight. So now I warn other people instead.

A few unimportant facts that somehow matter
- My cat, Pixel, has opinions about my keyboard and no respect for deadlines.
- I’ve never made a decent latte at home and I’ve made peace with that.
- I take one work-from-somewhere-else trip a year, and I’ve stopped pretending it’s as glamorous as it looks in photos.
- I like my desk facing the window, my to-do lists short, and my clients honest.
Why “Fly Through Our Window”
Freelancing sold itself to me as freedom. What it actually gave me was a window — one I get to look out of on my own schedule, on good days and bad ones. This blog is what I see when I do.
