This Morning…

…I loaded 3 kids in the car,
buckled them in their carseats,
called Justin on my cell phone,
put it in reverse,
backed down the driveway, and…

IMG_7268

ran smack into our little brick post;
all while talking to my husband.
We’re not really “fancy” enough for brick posts anyway.
And they were kinda ugly.
And tomorrow is “curbside pick-up”.

If you need any demolition, call me!
I can do it all with kids in the car while talking on the phone, and with minimal damage to my car!

Be back soon with a weekend recap. In my opinion, this is a sign of a weekend well had.

uncle chance did this in our driveway a couple of years ago, took out the big green power box at the end of the driveway. he can relate.
the only thing i've backed into is that boat in the yard when we first got our learner's permit.

so sorry for your morning! i backed into my husband's car a month ago. he was out of town for 11 days and i wasn't used to it being in the driveway! i moved his car 3 feet across the driveway. i'm pretty sure i could have done what you did easily!

So sad about your post. Oh well-life happens! I made the ciniminis this morning, much to the delight of my roommates. They weren't nearly as pretty as yours, but they still tasted wonderful! Don't worry…I gave all the credit to you on my blog.

hilarious. oh, and happy happy belated birthday!!!!!! can't believe you managed all that damage, with no injury and only minor damage to your car. a few years back i managed to ram, and i mean RAM my rental car into my friends parked car while i was parking in her driveway for a visit. it was LOUD and awkward (think greeting a friend you haven't seen in years by ramming her car with lots of worried neighbors running out to gawk). not to mention the starbucks chai tea latte which rained all over me, my purse and the car. thankfully her car was miraculously unscathed, but the rental was wrecked. it must be added that her driveway is freakishly steep, and i am use to driving much smaller cars over here in europe. the only thing the insurance couldn't cover was my humiliation.

Don't worry, when I was 16 I forgot to pull the parking brake up on my Jeep and my car literally rolled all the way into a brick house at the bottom of the driveway. It pushed someones bed clear across their bedroom and it looked like a scene out of a movie when I came out to see the damage. I think this happened in an episode of Full House once. I thought I would never drive again!

Once I backed out of my garage without remembering to open my new and very expensive garage door. OUCH!! At least I did it quickly and didn't dawdle in my car with the engine on…I may have been "brain dead" but at least I wasn't dead dead.

That's okay, Darby. I backed into a car at a STOP SIGN this weekend – my minivan full of kids on the way home from soccer. I pulled out too far at wide intersection, a car was headed my way, fast. I decided to get out of the way and wait – looked in the rear view – and bumped right into the car behind me. Luckily no one in either car was hurt, but my son told me: "Mommy, you should be really ashamed of yourself."

Last year, after rounding up, loading, and buckling all of my kids(including the one in utero) into the car. I backed out of the garage and knocked the side view mirror off my car! I hadn't even taken my taken my foot all the way off the brake, much less hit the gas! It's such a terrible feeling that there is no one else to blame 🙂

That's too funny. I've backed in to our trash can a couple times. That's a lot better than me about a month ago though. I ran in to the side of our house by the garage. I was so embarrassed as to what my neighbors thought. And my 2 year old just kept saying, "Mommy you hit our house." I felt so stupid.

How come your swimsuit isn't in the pic?:) My mom did something similar…except it was a brick MAILBOX, it belonged to somebody ELSE, and she hit it taking a curve too fast, running late to take one of us to a birthday party 🙂 Just glad (and sort of amazed) that your car wasn't hurt worse. Thank you Jesus! (or maybe not since I think you mentioned you wanted a new one…just back up a little faster next time ;))

when I was pregnant with #2, one afternoon I had a sitter for a whopping 3 hours. I had to get my hair cut and colored, get to post office, grocery store, and dry cleaners. I dashed out the door, threw the car in reverse and plowed right into the sitter's car. Whoops. The damage on my end was a little more severe—several special favors later, my hubby happily forgave me.

Heck, you drive just like me in Malaysia. Except when I hit something, it cost me 150 riggit to leave the scene. And the man's rear end didn't even look HALF as professional as your bang up job.

In all seriousness, glad y'all are safe!

I am STILL laughing about this one, but feeling sorry for you at the same time. I can't believe you didn't hurt your vehicle more!

I backed out of our garage (2nd day in the new house) and took off my sideview mirror AND bent the door frame in the process. Mucho bucks.

Good thing you didn't like the brick column anyway!

About a month ago I hit one of thsoe cart return racks at the grocery store pulling INTO the parking spot.. a lady was walking towards it to put her cart away and scared the living daylights out of her.. I could not sink down in my car far enough.

I reccomend Ebay for the new tail light.. they will likely be the cheapest place to find it… you should be able to switch it out yourself, as it's probabl just 2-4 bolts & an easy change out.
