roverbroncoThe children and I are excited to introduce you to Honey Bee Toddler Tees. This is a little dream I’ve been dreaming for about 3 years and finally decided to bite the bullet! If you’ve been around this blog since it began {what seems like a LONG time ago} you may remember I dabbled in this near the beginning… however, then I used clip art and cheaper tees… I decided to do it right this round with hand drawn designs and great quality t-shirts.  I’ve been working for the last 6 months on my designs, I started with a graphic designer and then decided I wanted more of a “hand drawn” look so I resorted to paper and a thin line Sharpie and went to town on the designs. The t-shirts are geared more towards boys but are certainly appropriate for both boys and girls and the tees are a great fit for little guys or little girls!

tees2

Some designs are accompanied by Scripture {hoot owls & bicycle}, one is just for Tiger fans, and the others are fun and playful things my children love. The Bronco was inspired by MommaSissy & Uncle Chance… they have a pair of vintage Broncos that our kids love to ride in when we visit them at the beach! The airstream camper is a dream of all of ours… one day hopefully you’ll see us in one!

tees5

All designs are hand-screened and the t-shirts are 4.3 oz 100% combed ring spun cotton fine knit jersey, in other words they are light-weight and super soft! I love the cut of these t-shirts, they will not swallow your toddler like some t-shirts do, nor are they boxy, and they have a little extra length because as we know, kids grow  taller over night! They come in sizes 2, 4, & 6 and in my opinion all fit true to size. Morgan {almost 6} is in a 6, Paige {age 4} is in a 4, and JM {age 2} is in a 2. I always say, if in doubt order up.

tees4

I owe big thanks to several people for helping me with this little endeavor… my sister who took the designs and digitized them for me, and who took my sketches and designed both my shop and the Honey Bee Farms website… and Chris who pulled it together and made it “live” . Justin has been running his “side job”… {which has become much more than that} for a little over 3 years and we decided it was time for him to join the world wide web. His already established LLC of Honey Bee Farms was a natural place for us to tack on the t-shirts!

honeybeetees

We think the t-shirts are really fun and we hope you do too! I have a stack of other designs waiting to be made into t-shirts so if these go over well I may introduce a few more {there might even be an elephant in the stack  for the Crimson Tide fans} and DaddyBoy is wishing he could fit in the Bronco and Happy Camper tees… maybe one day I will be able to add youth sizes and a few for the adults! For now there are just a handful of each design, if and when they sell out I hope to restock or add different designs to the mix… if you have any questions, ideas, or suggestions please feel free to leave a comment or email me darby@flythroughourwindow.com! Or if you’re local and want to avoid shipping charges email me and we can make arrangements!

Ok, time to get out the door to preschool! I’ll be back soon… I’ve got some books I want to talk about!

  • Comment by Courtney at Scattering Lupines — August 26, 2010 @ 10:59 am

For some reason the HOney Bee Farms link won’t let me through… could you somehow paste the actual link in parenthesis or elsewhere so it can be copied and pasted? I couldn’t find it in the google search engine either. I know it must be my computer because the T-Shirts link worked….

This is so neat! Congratulations to y’all for pursuing these ideas!

    And War Eagle!

I LOVE them! I can’t believe that so many of them are sold out already!!! I want to buy a couple of the Jeremiah 29:11 ones. I hope you will have more soon!

p.s. I was over at my friend’s house today and she was talking about making aprons and I said “Darby has a great apron tutorial on her blog” (she had seen it and knew exactly the one I meant) and it felt so freaky because we don’t know you at all and here we were, talking about you as if you were another friend up the road. I love your blog – thanks for sharing your life with us. :)

Darby!! I LOVE them! I can’t wait to order the owl ones for my girls…they’re all so cute. Do you mind sharing what shirts you decided to go with? I’m having a hard time choosing wholesale shirts for my “business” – I’m looking for something soft but not too thick and heavy also…

Darby – congratulations on this fun endeavor! So proud for you – man, the creativity continues. These are adorable, and yes, the Auburn Tiger is so very classic. LOVE it. I can’t wait to see how you do with this – the sky’s the limit!!!

I love, love, love these! I would love for you to make that Bronco shirt for in adult sizes. I don’t have kids yet, so I’d love to buy one for myself! Also, I think you should definitely make a Crimson Tide elephant!!

This is really cool! Can you make one with a monkey for a 5 year old girl? Also, would love some for 8 year old boys and for newborn- onesies (ie, for all my children!)

Absolutely adorable!! I am with DaddyBoy…would love a couple of these for myself. And, will definitely keep my fingers crossed that you add youth sizes soon. I don’t think my 10-year-old daughter would be too happy if I made her squeeze into a size 6!! ;)
