My Baby is Bipedal

The rover is all over and almost exclusively bipedal.

My therapy this week was making him his new “band” outfit.

It felt really good to start & finish something.

Have I mentioned lately that his eyelashes are completely out of control? {His hair is too but I love it that way!}  I can assure you these are not from my gene pool. No man on this planet should be allowed to have long, thick, dark eyelashes. It’s simply not fair.

I’m going to attach a few clips of Rover in action… and his sister in action. Keep in mind no children were harmed the making of these videos.

I’ll be back soon with exterior house pictures and sources… as soon as the electrician shows back up!! It’s been 3 weeks since he first came and hasn’t returned…. argh!

For those of you with embroidery machines: the guitar on JM’s shirt came free from Planet Applique. They have really cute & simple designs at very reasonable prices! The pants are a pattern by Bonnie Blue called “Jillian”… they’re great and I’ve used them for boys and girls. The t-shirt was a $5 pocket tee from Target and those little pockets come off in about 5 seconds with a seam ripper!

Ooooo, the first to comment! Not sure why I feel the need to emphasize that, like I have won something! Love the little outfit! I have been doing appliqué’s by hand, but have not yet tried on the machine, not sure I have enough control yet! You’ve inspired me, I need to give it a go really soon!

I wish my boys eyelashes were that great…what am I saying, I wish mine were. The outfit is adorable! I am so excited to know that the pockets come off easily. Everytime I go to Target, and other places for that matter, I get so aggrevated with things on t-shirts. I just want plain t-shirts…monogrammable t-shirts. Thanks for the insite!

i looove that little outfit. my little boy is too big for it, but i can see it being precious on a little girl too with a girlier pattern! problem…i can’t sew / never tried to! his lashes are to die for – it’s always the boys that get them!

He’s adorable, but I am SO jealous of his eyelashes! It’s just not fair that little boys and my miniature schnauzer get the good eyelashes (I’m not comparing your son to a miniature schnauzer…just his eyelashes):)

Also thanks for the website link I have about 14 shirts to applique for my friend’s grandsons and I needed more boy things since I normal just sew for my four granddaughters.

So stinking cute! I haven’t sewn much before, but you inspire me to try to pick it up to make my 16 month old cutie some adorable clothes. And I love the videos – how funny that he not only lets his sister spray him with water, but he loves it?!

Hi Darby, this is my first time posting but I just love checking your blog for so many great ideas and of course those babies of yours are just gorgeous!! Could you tell me what Embroidery Machine you use/Reccommend? I am new to it and I have looked at a few but still can’t decide on one.

OMG!!! That outfit is ADORABLE!!!! I LOVE the fabric!! You must tell where the fabric came from. Are you so sad that JM is walking now? That made me sad when MM started walking b/c that meant she was not a baby anymore. Love the video!!!

I just downloaded that free guitar applique to put on a shirt for my little boy. Glad to see it on a real project! Cute. Will check out the pants pattern too. I have been using a quick sew pattern (with pants and a little zip up hoodie vest) but would like to have a boys pants pattern without so many pockets! I love to borrow your sewing ideas! Thanks for all the inspiration!
I finally got around to making your little simplicity dress here (after hunting down the pattern on ebay).

That band outfit is precious and those eyelashes are BEAUTIFUL! The water bottle cracked me up because Anna Clare used to squirt Owen with the water bottle and she would laugh just like that. I, too, would have to cut her off. Now they both squirt each other!

I so enjoy reading your blog and Erika’s too. What a precious niece you have! I have two little boys (20 months and 3 months) and I love all your posts about Hornet/Rover/JM. He is such a boy! Its amazing how you do not have to teach them to love tractors, dirt, and so on. My oldest, Alder, is waking up but quickly I would love to know if you would consider sewing some outfits for me if the price is right 🙂 Let me know. I love the guitar outfit. Sadly, I cannot sew on a button. Pitiful…I know.

Oh my word, Darby…your son just melts me! lol I can’t even tell you just how much he actually reminds me of my son, Noah (15 months). He is a blondie as well only Noah has lots of curls. 😉 Don’t you just love when they take their first steps! I love their little waddles! 🙂 Precious. Thanks for sharing your family with us…they are so sweet and wonderful. And that outfit! OH HOW I LOVE IT. Did you ever think of making and selling on Etsy? I’d buy that outfit for Noah in a HEARTBEAT! 🙂 You’re so talented! Love your blog! I recently got my sister hooked on your blog too and she showed her friends at work! We’re all lovin’ you in PA! Keep up the great work! You’re an inspiration to us all! XO

JM is beyond adorable! And so is his band outfit! Caleb loves getting sprayed with the spray bottle too. We have to spray his hair every morning because it is completely out of control if we don’t, so he gets a few sprays on his face too to make it fun!

Oh, JM is rockin’ in his new outfit! Cute, cute! But the spray bottle video is even cuter! Can you tell me about the romper he’s wearing in the video? Did you do the design yourself? Where did you find the plain romper? I’m curious because I have a heat press at school that my students use to make custom mousepads and other items that they sell. The wheels in my head are turning…

So glad to know about taking those pockets off – Target is usually my source for solid t-shirts for monogramming, but the boys ones ALWAYS have pockets as of late, which drives me crazy – now I’ll just have to go buy a seam ripper! Love the outfit and can’t WAIT for those pictures and sources on the outside of the house – did ya’ll do the painting yourself or did you contract it out?
