Thanks… I’m hangin’

meandrover

Hello Rovers.

Thanks for your prayers… I’m hanging in there! So far I’ve had minimal swelling but several lovely vomiting episodes…. ouch and eeeewww! Trying to keep my soft & cold food down. Rover loves that I’m in my bed. He thinks it’s hilarious and runs back here in his red keds so fast and when he gets to the door he laughs uncontrollably and then stands at the side of the bed until I lift him up to join me. Then he plays with the telephones.

I know you already know this, but television totally stinks. So does my breath.

Instead of tv I’ve been browsing and thinking about…

rabbit fabric Easter baskets {better hop on that}

making myself some clothes from Justin’s closet

making JM some pants from Justin’s t-shirts

Erin’s oh so beautiful and simplistic vintage kitchen, the harvest gold cabinets, and the sink, oh the sink!

I’ve also been itching my face, {must be the percocet}, slightly drooling and brief episodes of profuse sweating followed by vomit. Wish you were here!

PS- I think I behaved myself post-op. If not, thank goodness for HPPA… what happens in recovery stays in recovery.

PSS- I’ve also been thinking about real food. Mmmmm…

Thanks again for your prayers… I seriously think y’all are the best.

Glad you are hanging in there. If it makes you feel better–you look great! Can’t even tell you’ve been making friends with your bathroom.

Have you seen Modern Family? It’s on hulu.com. I have to say that it’s the only show that causes belly laughs in our family. Perhaps a good way to pass the time?

How does one look that good after visiting the “bathroom”?

I’m glad it hasn’t been too bad. I hear the anesthesia is what will get you in the tummy area. I actually just had a local numbing shot and it wasn’t too bad. Of course after the mind numbing infection I had in my tooth nothing would seem too bad. I was just glad to get the thing out!

Like someone else said, if you aren’t doing good in a couple days, call them Dr. office back and demand to be seen again. Dry sockets won’t go away on their own and drugs really don’t help since it’s basically an exposed nerve.

    Continued prayers for your recovery!

I’m glad to see you do not have the squirrel with a mouth full of nuts look I was sporting after widom teeth removal! I’m sorry about the puking though. I recently had to have an endoscopy, and when I was coming out of the anthesia I very worriedly asked the nurse (as if she was the only one who could hear me) if I had tooted during the procedure. Gah- turning red just thinking about it!

When I had my wisdom teeth out (eons ago in high school), my favorite treat was a Wendy’s frosty and some fries. I would scoop the fries in the frosty for a sweet/salty mix.

Hang in there, Darby! I haven’t read all of the other post’s comments, but my advice is to persevere with the Advil if you can hold it down. That helped with my swelling SO much.

Also, Jello Jigglers were fun and easy to eat and I’m sure your kids would love to make you some. I threw all nutrition out the window when I had my surgery.

When I had my wisdom teeth out just a month after our wedding, my sweet husband made do the ice pack routine–30 minutes on, 30 minutes off for the swelling. (He’s in the medical field.) He also had me stop taking the precription pain meds, because they were making me vomit. Aleve to the rescue…and no more puke. Good luck!

  • Melissa Richie
    March 26, 2010 at 7:48 pm

Since I wasn’t puking with my wisdom teeth…I really enjoyed the process 🙂

I watched all of Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea. It was amazing. Such wonderful childhood memories re-lived with the aid of pain meds. Nice.

    Hope you keep feeling better!

  • janet
    March 26, 2010 at 7:48 pm

The vomitting can be due to the percocet. Some people just cannot tolerate it. If you are still in pain ( which should be subsiding by now) ask the doctor for tramadol. It is less likely to make you puke, and is great for post-op pain without making you feel loopy. I personally had 4 dried sockets when I had mine out. It felt more like, “I should be feeling less and less pain as the days go by…. but it still feels like the same kind of pain.” So if you feel this way , go back to the oral surgeon to make sure it it NOT dried sockets. They can “pack” them and help them on their way to start the healing process.
Good luck! I hope you are feeling better real soon.
That picture of you and your little guy is precious!!!!

Was just fixing to post the exact thing that Janet above me said. My sister had surgery and was vomiting constantly afterwards until she stopped taking the pain meds! Once she realized it was the pain meds and stopped them she was fine.

Glad you are on your way to feeling better!

oh that’s not fun! I had jaw issues my entire life. The doc said that removing my wisdom teeth wouldn’t help a bit. I guess docs are wrong sometimes, because I haven’t had one issue (knock on wood) with my jaw cracking like it used to since getting my wisdom teeth removed. Just thought i’d share that glimpse of hope with you!

LOVE the pictures of your sweet kiddos on your last post. they are just too, too precious.

Glad you’re doing pretty good. Sorry about the vomiting. THAT is one thing that I just can’t stand to do or hear. My poor son (who will soon be 16 yrs. old) use to have to help himself to that. I would just help him after the matter. Bad mom:(

    Feel better soon.

hang in there! And I second changing the pain meds, and phenegren. I’ve had 2 csections, then another surgery- what worked before did NOTHING for the pain and made me sick. Changed the med and it was (relatively) easy street.

    keeping you in my prayers!

–I never post a comment on here…so feel loved! 🙂 I still cant believe how good you look! I would hate you if I didn’t like ya so much! I hope you did good the rest of the evening, and that Justin waited on you hand and foot. 😉 (you didn’t call…so I’m guessing you did ok) ttyl Keep Resting!

I think everyone is giving good advice. Leave off the Percocet and take Tylenol. Percocet makes my head crazy!

Enjoy all the milkshakes. I bought every flavor ice cream and made homemade shakes for my teenagers going through this. The ice packs and salt rinse were prescribed for us too.

Your blog is so enjoyable. You have such a beautiful family.

Get well soon but enjoy the pampering! Mothers don’t get it often.

I promise I would never have let anyone take a picture of me after I had my wisdom teeth pulled! I looked like a chipmunk for FIVE days! I was much younger, and I remember my mom bringing me fruity popsicles. 🙂

Wow, Darby, I’m just catching up here. Glad you’re beginning to feel better. The holes will fill in. 😉 I did want to mention (as I think someone else did), that I don’t think you should have had to go through the nausea. If you ever have to have another procedure of any kind or have to take pain killers, be sure to mention that you need phenergan to prevent nausea. So sorry you had to go through that. I had mine (I only had three, but they were all impacted) taken out in my early twenties, with only novocaine and then ended up with dry sockets (all three). The most painful experience! A little like reliving my birth experience (that didn’t go so well either 😉
    Anyway…. glad you’re doing okay.
