Ooops! & My Baby has a BIG Boy Bed

me

I’ve got a few too many irons in my fire. This effects my ability to connect brainwaves and list t-shirts & sweatshirts properly in the shop. Yesterday morning I ran to the bank, then I ran home {not literally, I don’t run}… and then I looked at the computer and realized you rovers took full advantage of the blue light special {thank you!}… and then I realized I didn’t have the shipping calculator set properly. I tried to look through and sort it all out, which I did eventually get it sorted out, after they all had sold. In a nutshell, if you ordered 1 {or a bunch} sweatshirts it only charged $4.90. To ship 2 to 3 sweatshirts it will cost considerably more than that. I’m going to go ahead take that one for the team… and hope maybe that you all will be repeat customers!? The time it would take to invoice you for the actual cost the listing said it would charge and get it all sorted out would cause me great strife. So it is what it is and I’m getting all too good at learning lessons the hard way. That wasn’t the only snag, I also OVER CHARGED for shipping on some of the t-shirts. I will not, however, be keeping that money to cover the cost of under charging on the sweat shirt listings… but don’t give me too much credit… I thought about it briefly! 🙂 Those of you who were over-charged for shipping will be receiving a refund for exorbitant shipping charges today.

Similar to how I didn’t literally “run” to the bank, my flowers from yesterday’s post don’t literally last “FOREVER”, I didn’t even know I had written that until I started getting comments asking where I found my pretty fake flowers. “Forever” in my book {as far as flowers go} is about 2 weeks. These are from the local Winn Dixie and because they’re mums {spider mums, I think} they have a much longer life! I need to watch my exaggerations, I kept thinking, “why do these rovers think my flowers are fake?” and obviously, it’s because I implied they were!

Also, this is random, but Cam Newton is going to NFL, and now the NFL has a new fan! I know what I’ll be doing on Sunday and Monday nights next year, while my husband sofa jumps.

Can we have a moment of silence…

my baby is in a big boy bed.

In exchange for a stack of tee shirts, my friend Marla gave me this beautiful bed {originally from KMart, which is also where I found the girls beds… I do love a blue light special}. Marla spray painted it gray; I love the color and think it works perfect in his room! I certainly got the better end of that deal! I’m also thankful that she has it set up with two headboards, because of the configuration of his room, I plan to eventually place against the wall and use it as a daybed so it was a double score that she had 2 headboards!

bed1

It is currently in front of the windows because I can’t bring myself to take down the crib yet, I’ve had a crib in my house for 6 years and 3 months, we’ll need another moment of silence when it comes down.

bed2

I found all of his bedding in our linen closet. I love it when that happens! The popcorn chenille throw was an estate sale find from our neighbor’s house a few years ago. The quilt was a $10 {or maybe $15} antique store find, it seems to be made of mens button down shirts. The big golden retriever is from IKEA.

I’ve yet {at this stage of motherhood} to find a side rail that looks cute. I’m sure they’re out there but for now it’s your typical white mesh… which really works fine, just wish it went with my motif. 🙂

I found shades for my Humpty Dumpty lamps at Target and a low wattage light bulb gives just enough light at night to read about “moo moo’s and nay nay’s”.

humptydumpty

The very best part of all… he stays in his bed for naps and bedtime!! Way to go little BIG BOY!

Stay warm this weekend and enjoy time with your family… and as always, thanks for being the great rovers that you are!

Catching Up & A Blue Light Special

toomers

Hello!

War Eagle, baby! War Eagle! It was a close one, but we’ll take it! “Good game!” to all the Duck readers who came out of the woodwork! What a game, what a game! I won’t lie, I took a little nap in the beginning of the 4th quarter but Justin didn’t let me sleep long!!  Thank you, Kim for sending the picture above of the “winner wonderland” that Toomer’s Corner became post-game!

sink

  • I love $5 flowers that last forever and make me smile at my sink.
  • I also loved {past tense} my Starbucks cup with candy cane straw… that I DROPPED and broke and cried. But the straw {as you see} lives on.
  • My name is Darby and I cannot keep up with you rovers. Seriously, you’re killing me, in a very good way of course.
  • Thank you for your continued support of Honey Bee Tees… and for snatching up those dish mats in about 30 seconds flat! I made a quick trip to my favorite fabric shop last week and restocked for batch 2, can you tell my favorite colors?

  • We had VISITORS from the NORTH and the SOUTH this weekend… unfortunately both are in physical therapy from what I call ” iPhone-itis”… what if they were texting each other? I love them both so much that if they insist that I take this picture down, I will!
  • On a serious note, these are two of my favorite girls on the planet… in case you’re new, one’s my cousin, the other’s my sister! And the young man swinging the paper towel roll that is on his arm like a pirate’s hook… that’s my son, Rover.
  • This weekend we… laughed, cried, shopped, ate,  and watched movies {BTW Dan in Real Life is an AWESOME, HILARIOUS, and REALLY GOOD movie for adults, and I’m a tough critic!}!

dinner

  • Sloane slept in Rover’s bedroom with him, but and he slept in his NEW big BOY bed! Unfortunately, she didn’t last all night and when she cried in the middle of the night, I quickly whisked her away to our room  and put her in the bed between us… which resulted in blood curdling screams so her daddy rescued her and this is how I found them Sunday morning…

  • The Sea Salt Caramels that you have asked about… I found HERE via Food Gawker. I’m not sure how I didn’t know about Food Gawker but thankfully I have these 2 lovely Auburn girls, who babysit the rovers, who kindly enlightened me about their favorite blogs over Christmas break and they both said, “Food Gawker!” I had to ‘fess up that I didn’t know about that one and now I might be wishing I had been left in the dark… you should go look! I doubled the recipe, used parchment paper, and let them “sit” over night.

  • And last but not least, a little t-shirt business…
  • My creation

    • canoeride_sweatshirt1
  • I’ve learned so much since I started this little endeavor a few months ago… one being: it’s hard to get it perfect every time, especially when we’re hand screening all these products. I use that term “we” loosely, I myself am not screening. But I am “screening” closely what I receive and these were less than perfect for 2 reasons. 1) The design is not “significant” enough for the sweatshirts… The design has been re-worked with a heavier line-weight and the entire design will be a little larger on the next batch. 2) Several of the sweat shirts have faded spots on them because of a printing mishap. If you look closely at the sweatshirt above you’ll see around the neckline that it is slightly faded, that is the extent of the damage on the ones that are damaged. The one below was the worst {and it’s for my kids so it’s not even available} but none are terrible! And all {even the 50% that are COMPLETELY PERFECT WITHOUT FLAW} are all priced below cost! So, maybe you figure your kids are going to mess them up anyway, or maybe you really want one but can’t pay $28… so these are all $10.

Ok, that’s all for now! You all stay warm… and thanks again for all your support!

Happy New Year’s Eve to all of you!! I just wanted to pop in and let you know that Honey Bee Tees has new inventory and I added the dish mats as well {near the bottom of the shop homepage}!

And a new style has been added… hooded sweatshirts for kids! The pigment dyed bird dogs are in and more colors are on order.

    birddog3

The product description includes a warning and I think I better post it here too… if you buy your child one of these hooded sweatshirts they may not want to take it off! Who can blame them? I intend to introduce a few new designs in the coming week so be sure to check back. I’ve always loved the look & feel of pigment dyed and I’m beyond impressed with a new manufacturer that I found. If you aren’t familiar with pigment dyed clothing be sure to read the product descriptions; it is natural for the color to fade some with time {so wash with like colors} and the screen printing may take on some of the color from the dye. It will wear like, feel like, and hopefully become your favorite tee shirt/sweatshirt!

Thank you for all your support in 2010 and I am always grateful to hear your feedback! Please keep it coming and join me on Facebook for updates as well… any comments or questions can be sent to tees@flythroughourwindow.com.

Hope you all have safe & wonderful New Year’s plans… see you in 2011!!!
